A faint crunch mixed in with the otherwise distinct sound of shoes against cobblestone, and James Potter glanced down with a smirk at the pile of leaves scattered across the sidewalk. Browns and oranges and golds and reds—this was always such a great time of year! The colorful leaves, the crisp feel in the air, the scents of pumpkin and spice and all things nice, getting to bundle up, all snug-like. Tch, yep. It was all pretty great.
He enjoyed the crunch of the leaves for a few more steps, continuing on down the walkway a little past his destination, just for the fun of it, before quickly backtracking, with a slight bounce in his step. Fortunately, there wasn't anybody behind him, so he could get away with it without bumping into anybody, and sliding into a side-step, he pulled the door open to a quaint little café. The bell overhead made a sweet lil' jingle, again bringing a smile to his lips, and he inhaled the pleasant smells the place had to offer. The coffee roast, and the wonderful baked goods, all swirling around in a magical combination.
Undoing his scarf, he slung it onto the back of a nearby chair that looked like a pretty choice spot to sit and sip some soothing beverages, and he laid his jacket down with it. Crossing the little establishment, one of his hands slipping into his pockets, he then offered the barista a lazy salute/wave. He leaned casually against the counter, propping his elbow on it, before placing an order for a vanilla latte with a splash of cinnamon. A pumpkin spice muffin sounded pretty good, too, he was feeling very seasonal today, so he went ahead and added that onto the order also.
With that, the man pushed away from the counter and meandered his way back to the little table he had claimed for himself, where he lounged comfortably in the chair and then glanced over his shoulder. His hazel eyes peered out the window, at the grand view he had of the city streets, watching as the wind carried stray leaves through the air, as couples huddled closer together as they walked, as a guy peddled on a bike, looking all huffy and puffy and out of breath. Poor chap. It was an awesome scene, and he could again feel that smile easing its way onto his expression.
Sometimes, a day out, on his own like this, could actually be pretty fun. He didn't do it too often, there was almost always someone to hang with, or pester, but today...today, he'd just felt like it. Plus, there were so many strangers he could just look at. Or, you know, talk to, if he ended up feeling like that. It was all at the mercy of his whim! And that...was such a great thought.

The sound of children's laughter filled the air; the sound of couples exchanging sweet words, or bitter rejections; music lingered past various shops and restaurants, becoming a mash-up of Spanish verses, pop choruses, and rock bridges. All the sounds around the small town were a symbol of what the town was made up of, all the words, and songs, that built up the people in this town, built up the city itself. It was amazing how much expression you could see through sound alone.
As Alice took in these noises surrounding her, she closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath before letting out a content sigh. The air was crisp and fresh, and accented by the cinnamon and pumpkin seasonings various bakers had chosen to mix with their creations to celebrate the ongoing season. While Autumn had been going on for months, it never seemed as though these good folks got sick of the season, and she loved that about this town, specifically. They had the best food this time of year. Even a simple chai spice tea, no matter how ordinary it was, tasted like an edible Autumn in a cup. That, paired with a spice cake, or pumpkin pie, and you literally had the essence of the season in your hands.
For the past few weeks, she'd really taken a liking to a great cafe on this street. She found their pastries simply divine, and their coffees and lattes were perfect for the progressively chilly weather. The owner was a pleasant young man, too. He'd taken up the job to raise his college funds, and even with being a full-time student, he managed to greet his customers with a warm, welcome smile. She really admired his dedication, too. It wasn't every day you saw someone so young take full responsibility for their own life like that. They had the best discussions, too. Now, they weren't allowed to talk about the latest news in Magical England, or talk about the quidditch scores for the game last night, but she found muggle conversations much more intriguing, because they were things she didn't have extensive knowledge about. In a way, he was educating her on this world he lived in, a world where he fought so hard in order to work his way up the economic ladder.
Giving her blonde hair a slight flip over her shoulder, the witch came to a stop at the familiar building, reaching out a hand to pull the handle of the entrance. Upon entering, she instantly felt relaxed, the pleasant environment made up of soothing music, light conversation, dim lights and sweet scents of pastries from their bakery serving to calm her senses after her short walk. Stepping up to the register, Alice gave the man behind the register a smile before placing her order of a London Fog tea and a Pumpkin Mousse dessert, paired with an Apple Cider doughnut. Handing over her payment to the man, she gave him a soft 'thank you' before making her way to her favorite section of the establishment.
However, upon arriving and deciding which seat would suit her fancy, she noticed a familiar figure, set up in the corner of the cafe with his eyes trained on the world beyond that window. She was a little surprised to see the wizard here, it's not like they had planned to meet or anything. It had been a little while since she last saw him, too. And, she had to admit, it really was nice to see a face like that around here. The fact that it was this particular individual wasn't surprising at all. He often talked about his adventures off in the muggle world when they spent time as a group, so she assumed this was probably a normal, everyday thing for him.
Making her way over to the dark-haired, bespectacled man, she gave him a small tap on the shoulder, before putting on a sweet voice. "Would you mind if I sat there, sir?" she asked, gesturing to the seat across from him.

He was pulled from the scene with a start when he felt someone tapping him on the shoulder, and he quickly turned his head in her direction as she asked to sit with him. For a moment, his brow was raised, in surprise, but after staring up at her for a split-second and recognizing who she was, the smile returned to his face, turning a little smug at the way she'd chosen to address him. He was still a little surprised to see her, but it was one of those welcome surprises.
"Be my guest," he told her, with a lazy gesture of his hand, before relaxing it back on the chair behind him.
Alice Benson.
She'd been doing pretty well for herself lately, hadn't she? She and that Frank of hers, an unstoppable duo right there. They'd both always been pretty cool peeps back in school, and he hadn't been too surprised when he found they'd both joined up with the Order. They were pretty upfront about their ideals, never really backing down when it really mattered, although they were also both pretty laid back. But, hey! That just sort of added to their whole charm.
Giving her a quick once-over, he felt his smile widen, to a grin, and he inclined his head toward her, in a nod of approval. Aww...now, wasn't that just the cutest little deer ever?
"Love the shirt, by the way," he told her, before awarding her a playful wink. "You seriously just earned about 50 cool points, in my book."
Hermione Granger: Ironically, the same thing happened to me. I'm glad you brought it up

Draco Malfoy: It does I've been so excited for it since I first heard about it. Always been my favorite, after all. Combine that with you and it's nothing short of perfect. We definitely need to see it together.

Hermione Granger: Oh, we absolutely do! It's always been my favorite, too, but I know how much it's always meant to you. You've always sort of reminded me of how the prince was before he became the Beast, haha!
